Let’s talk about our dark clouds
I recently read a meditation in Journey to the Heart: Daily Meditations on the Path to Freeing Your Soul by Melody Beattie.
She described how a rain cloud lingered over this town in Utah every time she was there. There was always one, lone rain cloud hanging over the area.
As I read this, it dawned on me that limiting beliefs work the same way.
The limiting beliefs that often put a damper on my days were about being a bad mom. I looked around and saw moms that seemed to be doing a better job than me. They had this demeanor that they had things all under control. Meanwhile, I was struggling every single day to keep it all together and not lose my patience.
I also felt like an absolute failure because my time as an elementary school teacher was short-lived… only 6 years. My idea of success was so wrapped up in this.
These and the many other limiting beliefs I had affected my marriage, my friendships, and my relationship with my children and myself.
What I didn’t know then was how to shift out of the thoughts to create more positive beliefs.
Here are a few things that helped me and the many moms I’ve worked with:
Look at things that prove the old, limiting belief is false.
Celebrate yourself when you think or act in a way that supports your new belief.
Be aware of who and what you surround yourself with especially if it doesn’t align with your new belief.
Now, I want to ask you a question: Have you identified your rain cloud already?
I can help you work on it as well and break down those beliefs that aren’t helping you anymore.
Let’s create a blue sky together!
