Being alone isn’t a bad thing

In this episode, I share my struggle with being alone after a friend had to unexpectedly leave our shopping/lunch outing. I internalized this experience along with others to mean that something was wrong with me and that was why I was alone. This shopping experience also triggered feelings of guilt for spending money on myself. This guilt was an outdated mindset that I carried from a past relationship that was physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially abusive.

The key insights from this show:

  1. Giving yourself alone time can set the stage for you to decide what you want, what you like, and provides space to meet your own needs

  2. You’re worthy of getting what you need and even what you want because it is one way to create significance for yourself. Guilt should not prevent this from happening.
