3 Reasons Your Healing Journey Feels Like a Never-Ending Roller Coaster Ride
...and what to do instead so you can finally feel grounded and at peace.
You’ve been doing the work. The journaling. The therapy. The affirmations. The breathwork. You’ve read every self-help book with a hopeful heart, thinking, “This time, maybe something will finally shift.”
But instead of feeling lighter, more confident, or more in control, it feels like you’re constantly being thrown around on an emotional roller coaster. One day you’re feeling on top of your healing game—and the next, you’re spiraling, triggered, and wondering if you’ve actually made any progress at all.
If this feels painfully familiar, you’re not alone. And more importantly—you’re not doing it wrong.
Let’s unpack why this keeps happening and what you can do to finally create lasting emotional stability on your healing journey.
1. You’re Consuming Too Much and Integrating Too Little
We live in a world where healing is everywhere—TikToks, podcasts, YouTube videos, Pinterest quotes, self-help books. And while it’s amazing that so much information is available, it can also keep you stuck in consumption mode instead of transformation mode.
You might find yourself bouncing from one thing to the next:
“Maybe it’s my inner child that needs more love.”
“No wait, maybe I need to focus on boundaries this week.”
“I think I need to do a chakra cleanse and release stored trauma…”
Suddenly, healing becomes another to-do list that never ends. And instead of feeling relief, you feel exhausted and overwhelmed—like you’re always almost getting somewhere, but not quite.
Instead of trying to fix everything all at once, give yourself permission to slow down and integrate. Choose one practice or focus for the week. Then return to it again and again. Healing isn’t about how much you consume—it’s about how deeply you embody what you're learning.
2. You’re Measuring Progress by How Bad You Feel
This one stings a little—but it’s something I see often and have totally done myself. We decide our healing is failing based on our worst day.
Maybe you snapped at your partner. Maybe you cried during a work meeting. Maybe you felt triggered and spiraled for an entire afternoon.
And your first thought was, “Seriously? I thought I had worked through this already.”
The truth is, healing doesn’t mean you’ll never get triggered again. It means when the trigger comes, you’re more aware of it. You respond differently (even if it’s just a little bit different). You don’t sit in shame for as long. That is progress.
Start measuring your healing by how you show up—not how perfect it looks. Are you more self-aware? More emotionally honest? More compassionate toward yourself? That’s the healing work paying off.
3. You’re Trying to Heal Everything at Once
This is especially common for those of us who are Type-A, high-achieving, recovering people-pleasers.
When we finally realize we’ve been carrying trauma or emotional wounds for decades, it’s tempting to go all-in. We dive into therapy, shadow work, Reiki, inner child healing, breathwork, tapping, coaching, and more… all in the same week.
The problem? You’re not a machine. You’re a human. And trying to emotionally process all the things at once leads to burnout—especially if you’re doing it in isolation or without support.
Healing is meant to be gentle. Grounding. Nourishing. Not something that leaves you feeling like you're crawling to the finish line every day.
Simplify. Choose 1–2 tools or practices that actually help you feel supported—not just “productive.” And make space for rest, not just more work.
So What’s the Alternative?
If your healing journey has felt more like a rollercoaster than a slow and steady path forward, it might be time to stop doing more—and start doing things differently.
What if…
You stopped chasing the next self-help method and actually learned how to trust your own nervous system?
You focused less on “fixing” yourself and more on understanding your patterns?
You had simple tools to regulate your emotions in real-time, without needing another 30-minute meditation or a trip to your therapist’s office?
That’s exactly why I created the EFT Booster Session—a 15-minute personalized tapping session designed to help you reset, release, and actually feel progress when you’re emotionally tapped out. Click here to grab yours for just $37.
You Don’t Have to Stay on the Ride
Healing is not supposed to feel like a full-time job. And it’s definitely not supposed to keep you stuck in shame or exhaustion.
If you’re tired of feeling like you’re getting nowhere no matter how hard you try—know that there’s a different way.
A way that feels grounded. Personalized. And actually works for your real life.
You’re not failing at healing. You’re just burned out from doing it in a way that doesn’t work for you.
And that can change—starting today.
