Overcoming Anxiety
I’ve noticed that so many people struggle with anxiety on a daily basis and it sucks, honestly, because most people don’t even recognize that they’re going through something related to anxiety so today I want to share with you some easy, quick tips to add to your routine and help you regain your peace every time you head goes out of the rut.
Take a deep breath, let go, breathe again and repeat until you feel better. You may also want to learn about breathing techniques and find the one that helps you better.
Focus on meaningful activities and surround yourself with positive people. Make more of the stuff that helps you feel great, radiant and recharged.
Meet yourself, right here, right now. Every time you find yourself worrying about the past, the future, or any other scenario that doesn’t help you feel good, breathe and try to focus on the present. Staying present is a task by itself when you’re not used to it but sooner than later it will come naturally.
Use positive self-talk
Start a gratitude journal. It doesn’t have to become a novel if you don’t feel like it. Writing 3 to 5 prompts a day may seem silly but is actually SO helpful. Bonus points if you set a great intention for the day by feeling grateful for it in advance.
Make time for your hobbies or interests.
Eat well-balanced meals. You may not know it but what you eat has a bigger impact on the way your brain behaves than you think. Try to avoid sugary foods, caffeine and non-healthy fats.
Get plenty of sleep, and rest at least 6 hours at night. If you struggle with going to bed, try limiting anything that can be overly stimulating to your brain for at least an hour before going to bed. This means no phone, no socials, no work, no difficult conversations and, of course, no heavy lights at home. Thank me later!
Keep a positive attitude/outlook on life.
Exercise regularly; even taking a quick walk can help clear your head and help you stay calm. Find the best moment of the day for you and stick to it at least 4 times a week.
Take time to notice what is working well in your life (rather than what is not working). When you focus on the good, the good gets better.
These are just some tips that I personally found super helpful and easy to incorporate into an existing routine but there’s so much more waiting for you out there. Start small and don’t be too harsh on yourself. You deserve to be free from those black dogs howling in your mind.
