Just Have a Rest
I was going through Pinterest and I found an image that said:
“She believed she could, so she did.“
And I did find it motivating but then I thought “well, not always” and kept scrolling. Then, I found another one that said “she believed she could… but she was tired… She knew that she could try again tomorrow” and that absolutely blew my mind because that’s a way more accurate approach to getting stuff done.
Overachieving has been romanticized for decades and, with social media around, we’re even more used to having people showing how successful they are and how they always seem to go further and further, non-stopping. This means eating healthy, being rockstars at their jobs, being picture-perfect parents, exercising every day, traveling, reading, enjoying their unique homes and so on.
Please don’t get me wrong. I love seeing people grow, evolve, get their lives together, etcetera, but I’ve also felt SO diminished at times because I have never been able to do all of that -and I think that I might never do so-. Sometimes I’ve felt that some things are too heavy to carry on and then I watch these people’s posts and I dig the hole a bit deeper because I feel so exhausted that, instead of motivating me, it just makes me feel worse.
I know that some of you will definitely resonate with this.
And you know something?
THAT’S ALL RIGHT!
Here I came to a multiple-sided realization.
1- You’re not a robot!
A huge part of being human is needing to rest. It’s not a luxury, is not laziness, it’s just an actual need and respecting that can help you understand your processes, which will eventually help you start achieving your goals more fluently because you will have more energy and focus.
2- Why are we always comparing ourselves?
Seriously. I can’t stress this enough. Not only have I seen it while working with my clients but I’m guilty of this myself. Until you work on healing your life and stop competing with one another, you’ll always feel less than the rest. Work on yourself and reconnect with your energy. There’s a huge key to success!
3- Don’t believe everything that you see.
I won’t say that there are not high-achieving people living their dream lives but trust me, we’re not seeing the whole story -and we don’t have to!
Most people are more likely to show the bright side rather than the rough one. Not because they’re bad or fake, but because we all want to remember our lives from the prettiest perspective possible.
Now… Are you willing to stop for a second and take time to recharge?
I promise you, it is SO worthy!
