Care For Yourself
Times are definitely changing and I believe that this is a crucial moment for us to help our kids be more aware of themselves, relax, learn how to manage their emotions and reactions, etcetera.
There are lots of techniques and information out there that we sure didn’t have when I was growing up and also these kids are built differently, don’t you think?
Not better, not worse, just different, and that’s fantastic because they’re more open to new stuff than we were at their ages.
I have a couple of ideas that may help you introduce your kids to self-care practices and -who knows?- maybe help you as well.
1- Exercising Regularly
Even if none of you is into the fitness lifestyle, this is scientifically proven to improve our overall health in so many ways. There’s a plethora of options to choose from. Maybe yoga or pilates, but maybe a YouTube session works just fine, or just running around and letting our most childish side come out and play as well.
The trick is to stay in movement. Keep the flow.
2- Listening to Music
Music can influence our whole selves. From the rhythm to the lyrics, the songs we listen to are programming our systems to work a certain way without us even noticing. Try to keep it cool and positive. Vibe with the songs that awake the prettier and most active parts of you instead of the other way around.
3- Creating a Peaceful Home Environment
4- Be creative!
Not all of us are artsy, I understand, but creativity can be practiced in many ways. From experimenting while in the kitchen, trying to make art, or just writing, there’s s much you can do to keep your mind improving all the time.
5- Teach self-care to your children by taking care of yourself. Be a model of the behavior you’d like to foster in them.
